听力原文: Most of the students who come to America pay for their education with their own money or with money from their family. The group NAFSA, an association of international educators, says this is true of 81 percent of students. That is because not much financial aid is offered to foreign students in the United States. Foreign graduate students have more chances than undergraduate students do. Still, 47 percent of foreign graduate students pay for their studies with their own money or their family's money.
Most financial aid from government and private groups is restricted to American citizens. Some countries provide aid for their citizens to study in the United States, on the guarantee they return home to work.
The United States government provides aid for students from some countries. You can ask for details at an American Embassy or an office of the United States Agency for International Development. A local university may also have such information. And some American schools do provide financial aid for foreign students. A list of these can be found at a useful Website. The address is edupass, org. The site also provides information about where to write for financial help. And it warns foreign students net to pay if any money is requested for scholarship application forms. You could be cheated. This site also tells how to order publications such as "Funding for U.S. Study—A Guide for International Students and Professionals". This guide lists more than 600 places where international students can get help paying for their studies. You can also go to the site which is operated by the State Department, which is quite informative.
A lot of information about financial aid can be found on the Internet. If you do not have a computer, you might be able to use one at a local school or an educational advising center to search the information you want.

听力原文: In some countries certain kinds of insurance are compulsory. In others, most kinds are practically unknown. In addition, the cost of insurance and the type of coverage provided vary widely front country to country. But the basic principle of insurance remains the, same, that is, to share the possible risk.
Is it wise to spend money on insurance even though a claim may never be made? Is keeping a spare tire in the car a waste investment, even if the tire is never needed? The sense of security to the car driver may make the expense of the extra tire worthwhile. While financial compensation cannot make up for certain losses, it may compensate for other losses.
Much of the insurance bought by individuals fails into the categories of property, health, disability and life insurance.
Property insurance is to insure against the loss of property home, business, cars, or other possessions. It is among the most common form. of risk management.
Health insurance pays some medical expenses or may pay for only certain medical care. In many places workers may receive insurance as a condition of their employment.
Disability insurance provides some income if a person is injured and cannot work. Life insurance provides financial assistance to a person's dependents in case of his or her death. 听力原文: Teams of teachers and school administrators from at least fourteen American cities are at a conference in Washington. The American Federation of Teachers, a labor union, holds the Quest conference every two years.
This year, one of the subjects is a tutoring program that provides extra help to students in Rochester, New York. The Rochester City School District was one of five in the nation recognized by the Bush administration for their tutoring programs. Tutoring is big business in the United States these days. There are private learning centers where parents can take their children after school. Test preparation companies are also doing well. One reason for all this tutoring is the growing competition for places at top universities. Another influence is the Bush administration’s federal education law, called No Child Left Behind. The law requires services like free tutoring for poor students at schools that fail to meet educational goals for three years. There is federal money to pay the tutors. But the No Child Left Behind law does not say who must do the tutoring. It can be a private company or local teachers. The law does say, however, that the provider must have shown a record of effectiveness in helping students learn. In Rochester, the tutoring is provided by a teachers union, the Rochester Teachers’ Association. The program began in the spring of 2003 with 47 students and 15 tutors.
