听力原文:M: Susan, do you know when Professor Jones' Biology Final is?

W: Next Tuesday.

M: Next Tuesday! That's less than a week away, and I have got things planned for this weekend.

W: Haven't you been studying all along?

M: I have kept up with my lecture notes, but I haven't reviewed at all.

W: Then it's your own fault. The date of the final is clearly marked on the course outline.

M: I suppose you are right, but doesn't it seem awfully early for a final?

W: A little, but it should actually help us out. After we have finished with it, we can concentrate on our other finals.

M: Are you ready for it?

W: I think I am. I'm going to review some more of course.

M: Do you think we could study together sometimes this week?

W: I don't see why not. Are you doing anything tomorrow night?

M: I can't tomorrow. I am going out with some guys to that new nightspot downtown.

W: Well, how about the following night?

M: No, I can't Saturday either. My sister and her husband are coming to town and I want to show them around.

W: Sunday, then?

M: Well, I'll probably sleep all morning and in the after- noon I want to go to the football game. Also that night I have to write and type up a paper for another class.

W: Michael, that leaves Monday, the night before the test.

M: Actually, I've got plans for Monday night too. How about Early Tuesday morning?

W: Michael, the test is on Tuesday morning.

听力原文:W: Michael, do you go out to work?

M: Not regularly. I used to have a job in a publishing company, but I decided it wasn't really what I wanted to do and what I wanted to do wouldn't earn me much money, so I gave up working, and luckily I had a private income from my family, to support me and now I do the things I want to do. Some of them get paid like lecturing and teaching, and others don't.

W: What are the advantages of not having to go to work from nine till five?

M: There're two advantages really. One is that if you feel tired you don't have to get up, and the other is that you can spend your time doing things you want to do rather than being forced to do the same tiring all the time.

W: But surely that's in a sense very self-indulgent and very lucky because most of us have to go out and earn our livings. Do you feel justified in having this privileged position?

M: Yes. I do things which I think are useful to people and the community and which I enjoy doing.

W: Does your wife think that in order to lead a balanced life, people need some form. of work?

M: Yes, she does. She thinks it's equally important that their attitude to work should be positive and whatever work one is actually doing can become creative. Even when she cooks a meal, she thinks she is creating, in her own way, something which is very necessary to our family.

(20)

A.He works in a publishing company.

B.He cooks at home.

C.He is a teacher or lecturer.

听力原文:W: Michael, where abouts in China are you from?

M: I was born in Beijing, but I live in Shanghai now. How about yon?

W: I' m from Scotland.

M: Oh? What's it like?

W: Well, the weather is pretty cold there. Actually, most of Scotland is cold and often wet. I'm sure it's the coldest part of the British Isles.

M: Beijing is very cold in winter too, although it' s more of a dry cold, if you know what I mean. However, I like winter; it' s my favorite season. Summer is just too hot!

W: Well, I think you' re lucky to have a hot summer. Scotland' s summer is pretty miserable, wet and cold.

M: Do you think people's personalities are defined by the climate they live in?

W: Well, that's an interesting idea. I think there's definitely something in it, because when the weather is hot, I easily lose my temper, but when it's cooler, I feel much calmer.

M: If it' s raining I always feel depressed. I cry along with the weather!

W: Spring always makes me feel happy; the birds are singing and the whole atmosphere seems cheerful.

M: Hmm, I agree. I think spring is my favorite season too.

W: What about the winter blues? What are they?

M: Well, that means you' re down in the dumps, because the weather' s so gloomy and cold. You feel all sad and blue! I often get them.

W: Oh, I don' t I love winter, but I suppose you could say I get the summer reds! Because I always see red in the hot weather and get into arguments and stuff.

(23)

A.Beijing

B.Shanghai

C.Scotland

D.America

听力原文:W: Today we have with us Dr Michael White, a space scientist, to tell us about a
new space plane that British scientists are working on. Firstly, Dr White, could you tell us what the space plane looks like?

M: Well, it looks just like an ordinary plane, really. It’s about the same size as a plane, and it can carry about 50 passengers.

W: But it doesn’t act like an ordinary plane, does it?

M: No, it’s much faster. For example, you could fly from London to Beijing in only 30 minutes.

W: My goodness! And how does it work?

M: Well, shortly after taking off, the plane leaves the earth’s atmosphere and goes into orbit around the earth until it returns to the ground.

W: So it’s really a kind of space rocket.

M: Not really, no, for two reasons. First, a space rocket can only be used once, but this space plane can be used for many times. Second, while the plane is traveling through the atmosphere, the pilot can fly it just like an ordinary plane.

W: It sounds very exciting.

(20)

A.A satellite.

B.An ordinary plane.

C.A space plane.

D.A space rocket.
