It is reported that over 300 million people in China are suffering from nearsightedness(近视). As more children have got eye trouble, their parents hope to cure the disease by medicine, equipment or by correcting the way children read and sit. But in fact the care given to one's eyes should start with the exercise on one' s feet. Three methods on how to protect eyes are as follows:

Firstly, don't fasten your shoes too tightly. Try wearing loose socks or walking barefooted at home. When traveling, try wearing cloth shoes so as to make blood circulation (循环) easier.

Secondly, walking on tiptoes will help improve one's eyesight, and prevent nearsightedness. Figures show that few ballet (芭蕾舞) performers are nearsighted.

Thirdly, rope skipping also does good to one's eyesight. When skipping the rope, one has to react quickly, which excites the brain as well as the eyes. It will also help make one grow taller.

Besides foot exercises, it is good to pull one's ears. Pulling the ears 20 times is found to be an effective way to reduce the pressure on one's eyes soon.

To cure nearsightedness, people don't usually______.

A.depend on medicine

B.use equipment

C.think of foot exercises

D.pay attention to correcting the way children read and sit

Questions are based on the following passage.

It is reported that China uses 20 million trees each year to feed the country"sdisposable chopstick habit. At about 4,000 chopsticks per tree, that"s roughly 80 billionchopsticks per year——far more than the 57 billion(1)by the country"s national forestbureau.

While this is hardly the first time that the chopstick issue has come up in China, thenew numbers make the problem look particularly(2). The country"s last forest survey, published in 2009, documented rampant (猖獗的 ) deforestation and forest quality farbelow the global(3). Greenpeace has even dedicated a campaign to the chopstickproblem,(4)it for the destruction of 1.18 million square meters of forest every year.

China has tried to clamp down on chopsticks before—— (5) by taxing them andwooden floor boards, another environmental offender. In 2008, the Wall Street Journal"sJane Spencer reported on a cultural backlash against the chopsticks, led by celebrities, activists and6minded youth.

"Disposable chopsticks are(7)China"s forests," a 26-year-old activist, dressedas an orangutan (猩猩 ) reportedly said at a protest at Microsoft"s Chinese (8). "Wemust protest this pointless waste!"

But protest does not appear to have done the trick. In 2010, a(9)mudslide (泥石流 ) that killed 700 was blamed on deforestation, reports the Wall Street Journal. Perhapsthe activist"s appeal to the government represents an appeal to more transparently confrontthe issue.

"We must change our (10) habits and encourage people to carry their owntableware," he said.

A team of Russian scientists has challenged the theory that the Woolly mammoths became extinct 10,00
0 years ago at the end of the Ice Age. The scientists reported in Nature that the beasts may have survived until 2000 BC on an island off the coast of Siberia. Researchers uncovered 29 fossilized woolly mammoth teeth that range from 4,000 to 7,000 years of age. How did these prehistoric pachyderms survive in their island environment? It appears that they adapted to their confined surroundings by decreasing their bulk. Their smaller tooth size has led scientists to believe that they were only six-feet tall at the shoulder compares with 10 feet of their full-sizes counterpart. The researchers have not been able to uncover the reasons for this isolated group’s belated disappearance.
