W: I don't feel well, doctor. My head aches. And I have a sore throat (喉咙).
M: Do you have a fever?
W: I think so.
M: Well, let's see. Put this thermometer (温度计) under your tongue.
W: All right.
M: Yes, you have a fever. I want to take a look at your throat. Open your mouth.
W: What's wrong with me, doctor?
M: Well, you have the flu. I'll give you some medicine.
W: When should I take the medicine?
M: Every four hours. I want you to stay in bed and rest. And drink plenty of water. You should come again in a day or two.

听力原文:W: I've just been reading an article on biotherapy.
M: Biotherapy? What's that?
W: Well, it's an alternative health system based on the concept that energy is transmitted from one human being to another in order to heal psychologically or physically through regeneration.
M: Say that again, in English.
W: Well, I'll put it this way. A trained practitioner touches the patient in order to help the healing process.
M: Oh, I see. What kinds of things do they cure?
W: A variety of conditions and illnesses. According to the article, biotherapy can help people to lose weight, stop headaches, make ageing skin look youthful again, treat depression, even cure cancer.
M: Cure cancer? That's pretty ambitious claim. So how does the treatment work?
W: It expels negative energy from the organism.
M: I don't think that such a confusing explanation would stop me from taking proper medicine if I were un- lucky enough to be ill.
W: No, well, that's the beauty of it. You can have conventional medicine together with biotherapy. Fancy going for a bio-energetic check up?
M: Well, I'm not so sure about that. Supposing you book an appointment and I come with you first, just to see?

So we decided to put a lot of pots and pans like that under the window. Then if a thief came in, the pots and pans would fall down and we would wake up. That's what we did. Anyway, we were asleep.
All of the sudden in the middle of the night, sure enough, I hear the pans crash.I sat up in bed. My heart was beating like anything. I could see that there was a man in a white robe standing up next to the bed. I tried to scream and I had laryngitis which means my voice wasn't working. And I was screaming in the local language for help. It was like "help help", but I couldn't scream.
So the man came over and he shoved me down on the bed. Then he says in English "be quiet." Then I realized it was my husband, huh… And when I was able to speak, I asked, "What are you doing"
He said, "well, I had a headache and I wanted to get up and get some aspirins."

The air hostess was kept so busy that she forgot to give him the water. As a result, the passenger was held up to take his medicine. Thirty minutes later, when the passenger's ring for service sounded, she hurried over to him with a cup of water, but he refused.
In the following hours on the plane, each time the air hostess passed by the passenger, she would ask him with a smile whether he needed help or not. But the passenger never answered a word.
When he was going to get off the plane, the passenger asked the air hostess to hand him the passengers' booklet. She was very sad. She knew that he would write down sharp words, but with a smile she handed it to him.
Off the plane, she opened the booklet, and smiled, for the passenger put it. “On the flight, you asked me whether I needed help or not for twelve times in all. How can I refuse your twelve sincere smiles?”
That's right! Who can refuse twelve sincere smiles from a person?
