W: But games like football and cricket became popular only in the last century.
M: Yes, that's true. Mountaineering and skiing are comparatively recent sports too, aren't they?

M: Do you mean sports like hunting, shooting and fishing?
W: Yes.
M: I don't approve of killing animals for sport. And 1 don't like boxing and bull-fighting, either. They are not real sports.

W: What about aquatic sports.9 Do you like sailing?

W: Jim, what have you heard about the new restaurant? Have you eaten there yet?
M: I've heard some good things about it but I haven't been there yet. Why? Anna, are you interested in Spanish food?
W: Yes I am. I tried Spanish food when I was in Europe last summer and I loved it.
M: Well, this place is supposed to be very good. I have been meaning to go there.
W: What have you heard?
M: Well, Sue said that the food was exactly like the food she ate in Spain. She said they have different kinds of Spanish dishes and that everything she has tried has been good.
W: I like Spanish tapas best. Tapas are small dishes. You can order several small dishes and have a taste of each. It's a good way to try different dishes.
M: That sounds like a good idea.
W: That way, the price is not too high. There are meats, vegetables, noodles, rice, and fish. You can have a little bit of everything and enjoy the different flavors.
M: What are we waiting for? Let's go tonight.
W: Well, since you asked, I'll be glad to go. We'll go Dutch, though. I want to pay for my own meal.
M: That's fine with me. What time do you want to go?
W: Why don't we meet right here at six o'clock?
M: Great! I'll see you then. Tapas, here we come.

W: In just three weeks, and I am excited. But there are still a few things I need to do before I go.
M: Like what?
W: Like renewing my passport, going to the travel agency to buy my plane ticket and figuring out what to do with my apartment while I'm gone.
M: You are not going to give it up, are you?
W: No way, I'll never find another apartment around here. But I don't like the idea of paying three months' rent on an empty apartment either.
M: I don't blame you. Perhaps you could rent it.
W: Yes, but who to?
M: Mm, let me think. Oh, I know just the person, an old colleague of mine, Jim Thomas, is coming here to do some research this summer, from June to August.
W: That's exactly when I'll be away. It sounds ideal, as long as the landlord agrees.
M: I'll tell you what, I'll be calling Jim late this week anyway, so H1 mention it to him then.
W: Well, thanks, Bill, let me know what happens. That extra money will really come in handy.

听力原文:M: Hello.
W: Hello, welcome to "Advice" radio program. What's your name?
M: Jim.
W: What's your problem?
M: Er...well I'm er...beginning to lose my hair. Er, I went to the doctor, but he just said there was nothing I could do about it. He said it was probably hereditary. My father was bald by the time he was thirty.
W: And how old are you?
M: Me? I'm twenty-eight.
W: And are you losing a lot of hair then?
M: Well, it comes out a lot when I comb my hair and you can see a thin part on the top of my head,
W: Does that really worry you, Jim?
M: Well, I don't like it. It's old, you know, looks old. I don't want to look like a middle-aged man at twenty-eight. And I wonder if there is some special shampoo I should use, and if you could tell me one that I should buy, something like that, you know, to stop it getting worse.
W: Well, you know, Jim, to be honest with you there's not really a lot you can do about it, actually, I'm afraid. I mean, baldness is one of those things that, in my experience, you just have to try to accept. Some men find it more difficult to accept baldness than others. There is one piece of advice, though, Jim, and that's don't try to comb your hair over the bald or thin patch. Whatever you do, don't comb it over because that usually looks ridiculous. And the other thing that usually looks ridiculous is a man with a wig, that is, the false hairpiece. Don't let anyone persuade you to buy one of those false hairpiece things, because they usually look much worse than a bald man. I actually think bald men can look very attractive. My husband is bald and I think it really suits him.
