听力原文:M: Welcome to "Consumer Today", the program aired daily at this time, devoted to

the consumers of the Washington Metropolitan area and their problems. Let's answer the first phone call. Hello?

W: Hello, it's me!

M: Yes, Ms...

W: I'm Mrs. Ernie Smelt. I want to make a complaint.

M: Yes, please.

W: I have been living near the Dulles International Airport for five years and there has always been a noise problem caused by airplanes taking off and landing.

M: That's really terrible. And five years is a long time.

W: Yes, but that's not the worst. The Super Sonic Transport Jets are allowed to land at Dulles the noise has become intolerable. We would like to sell our house and move to a quieter place but we can't find a buyer because no one could bear that noise.

M: I see, that's really very difficult to solve because it's the problem of both the Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal Aviation Administration, but the final authority in this matter belongs to Congress.

W: Do you mean that I should write a letter to the representatives of the Congress?

M: Yes, my suggestion is to each and every one of you listening to our program today to help by writing a letter, if you are brave enough, to tell them your problems.

W: Will it work?

M: Why don't you give it a try before giving up hope?

W: Thank you very much.

听力原文:M: Welcome back, I didn't see you in math class on Friday.

W: I wasn't here on Friday. My geology class went on a field trip to look at some of the different rock formations here in California. Our last stop was Death Valley. In fact, We camped there last night.

M: Death Valley? But that's desert. Wasn't it much too hot for camping?

W: No, not really. It gets hot during the day, but it cools off very quickly at night. There is no moisture in the air to hold the heat after the sun goes down. If it were humid, it would stay hot all night.

M: Well, did you enjoy the trip?

W: It was fascinating. 'The desert is nicer than you might think. Since there is so little vegetation growing, it's very easy to see different rock layers, folds and such, and the natural colors of rocks are wonderful. The rocks have made brilliant colors, blues, pinks and greens. You really should go to see it sometime.

听力原文:W: Good evening, Mr. Brown, and welcome to the program.

M: Thank you!

W: I wonder if you could tell listeners more about the work you do?

M: Certainly.

W: Mr. Brown, I gather that you work for a company developing software for reading electronic books?

M: That is so.

W: Do you think there is much future in that7

M: Yes, that is true: the prize was worth $ 100,000.
