听力原文:W: I often read two newspapers. Washington Post and The Sun. What about you? M:
I will buy the newspaper whose headlines catch my eyes in the front page. Do you buy the two newspapers everyday? W: Yes, that way Im sure not to miss my favourite sections. Doesnt the size of the daily paper surprise you? M: Yes, it certainly does. The newspaper staff— the reporters, writers, editors, and linotype operators — must be busy continuously. They need a large circulation to support such a staff, dont they? W: Im sure they do. Of course, much of a newspapers income comes from advertisements. M: Thats true. You try to read the whole paper, dont you? W: No. I just read the parts that interest me. I glance at the headlines, but I read the sports page and the business section carefully. Do you read those? M: No, but I do read the editorials and the news section. You saw the article about the earthquake in Japan, didnt you? W: Yes. That was a terrible disaster. Do you think newspapers should print stories like that? M: Certainly they should! Theyre part of the news of the day and people want to know about them. Dont you agree? W: Yes, I suppose disasters are news, too. It seems to me that newspapers would be more pleasant to read if they had a large society section and more comic strips. Dont you like to read articles about celebrations and happy events? M: Yes, I enjoy reading them. But since you dont like to read unhappy news, why do you subscribe to two newspapers? If I were you, I wouldnt read a newspaper at all. Questions 9 to 12 are based on the conversation you have just heard. 9. What sort of newspaper will the man buy? 10. What surprises the speakers? 11. Which part of the newspaper does the woman usually read? 12. Why doesnt the woman enjoy reading about disasters in the daily newspaper?9.

A.The size of the daily newspaper.

B.The staff of the daily newspaper.

C.The circulation of the daily newspaper.

D.The advertisements in the daily newspaper.

e been under a lot of pressure lately. W: Whats up? M: Ive got a million things to do. Im busy at work. Im working on the house too, you know. Im trying to fix it up. I need to finish it before winter. Just lots of deadlines. W: Any way I can help? M: Thanks, but not really. Its just things I have to do. W: Well, you need to manage that stress a little better. Are you getting any exercise? M: Who has time? W: You really should ride a bicycle to the store, or walk to work a couple of days a week, or go swimming at the community centre. It helps me to get exercise when Im busy. M: That is a good suggestion. Its just the time, you know. Im always thinking of what I should be doing. W: No wonder you cant sleep. A lot of people learn to meditate or learn yoga. Meditation and yoga are supposed to be good ways to deal with stress. M: Yoga? Maybe Ill call the community centre. They might have some classes there. W: You know, another thing you can do is to take vitamins. You use up a lot of vitamins and you dont get them in your meals all the time. They wont help the stress, but they might help your body handle it better. You really should take vitamins every day. M: Yeah, I should get some. Thanks. Part 2 Paragraph Organization and Development [40 points]

Questions 6-8 are based on the following task. (15 points)

Read the following paragraphs. Choose the best answer to each question. Write your answer A,B or C on the Answer Sheet.

A new generation of communications technologies is upon us. They have changed workplace communication, providing many options for sending a message. (6)_______.

Email is so pervasive in organizations that it has become the default choice for communication. People still call each other at work, but sending an email to someone in the next cubicle is common. It's no surprise that most people believe email is used too often instead of face-to-face communication.

(7)_______.For short messages and quick questions, these channels are ideal, Of course, with smart phones, email may give you an instant response as well, but this varies by organizations and people. As you probably know, the real value of IMing is“presence awareness”-you know someone is available to respond immediately. Although some people consider IM an annoying interruption at work, people who use JM are at the office report fewer disruptions and believe that TM saves time and provides timely, relevant information. One analyst predicts that in the next few years, a vast majority of the employees will use TM as their primary communications tool.

Perhaps the more interesting technologies for communication are social media. Web 2.0, which encourages online interaction, has opened the door for people to participate on the web. This is quite different from the one-way communication of the early Internet, when companies would post brochure-like website for people to consume.

The real value of social media for companies is the opportunity to connect with people online.(8)________.To promote interaction, companies use Web 2.0 technologies, for example, blogs, wikis, video, and social networking sites. These tools are used on the Internet, on a company,5 intranet and on extranets. The Fortune Global 100 companies are using social media actively. Seventy-nine percent are using at least one of four main social platforms-Twitter, videos, Facebook and blogs to communicate with customers. Of these tools, Twitter is the most frequently used and has proved useful for companies.

6. Choose the thesis statement ().

A. Depending on the type of messages, you may choose from a variety of communications technologies.

B. As business tools, mobile technologies are useful for reporting news and connecting with customers.

C. Technology is blurring many forms of communication-oral and written, face-to-face and online.

7. Choose the topic sentence for the paragraph ().

A. Texting has been considered too informal for communicating at work.

B. Instant messaging may be considered rude in front of other people.

C. Instant messaging (IM) and texting are becoming increasingly popular at work.

8. Choose the bridge sentence ().

A. Social networking sites are for people who share common interests.

B. Multi-communication is said to be an effective way.

C. Social media is about the conversation.

听力原文: The evidence for harmony may not be obvious in some families. But it seems th
at four out of five young people now get on with their parents, which is the opposite of the popularly-held image of unhappy teenagers locked in their rooms after endless family quarrels. An important new study into teenage attitudes surprisingly shows that their family life is more harmonious than it has ever been in the past. "We were surprised by just how positive todays young people seem to be about their families," said one member of the research team. "Theyre expected to be rebellious and selfish but actually they have other things on their minds; they want a car and material goods, and they worry about whether school is serving them well. Theres more negotiation and discussion between parents and children, and children expect to take part in the family decision-making process. They dont want to rock the boat." So it seems that this generation of parents is much more likely than parents of 30 years ago to treat their children as friends. "My parents are happy to discuss things with me and willing to listen to me," says 17-year-old Daniel Lazall. "I always tell them when Im going out clubbing. As long as they know what Im doing, theyre fine with it." Susan Crome, who is now 21, agrees. "Looking back on the last 10 years, there was a lot of what you could call negotiation. For example, as long as Id done all my homework, I could go out on a Saturday night. But I think my grandparents were a lot stricter with my parents than that." Questions 22 to 25 are based on the passage you have just heard. 22. What is the popular image of teenagers today? 23. What do we know about teenagers according to the study? 24. What do we know about todays parents compared with parents of 30 years ago? 25. What is the passage mainly about?23.

A.They don"t want to make family decisions.

B.They don"t want to share family responsibility.

C.They don"t want to go boating with their family.

D.They don"t want to cause trouble in their families.

听力原文: As Managing Director of our company Ive been asked to say a few words to you
today about the way the company is organised. At the top above me, theres the Board of Directors. Their job is to administrate the company, make general policies, and so on. There are two kinds of Directors, actually. One kind is what we call non-executive Directors, which means that they are standing in various parts of the business world and are in a position to help the company to succeed. They only appear when there are meetings of the Board, and some of them are on the boards of other companies at the same time. But the second lot of Directors — the Executive Directors — are full-time employees of the company. Most of them are managers of our various departments. The absolute head of the company, of course, is the Chairman of the Board. He is appointed by the Board, and his job is to take the chair at meetings of the shareholders and the Board of Directors, and to represent the companys interests at outside functions. He does not take much part in the running of the business. He leaves me to get on with the job. Mind you, not all chairmen are like that. Our last one was a real pain, always wanted everything done in his own way and he kept on interfering. Then theres me, the Managing Director, or MD for short — as long as you dont think Im a Doctor of Medicine. Now, my job is to coordinate the policies decided by the Directors and see that they are carried out. I do this through the various managers of departments. Questions 16 to 18 are based on the passage you have just heard. 16. What is the main topic of the talk? 17. Who is responsible for chairing the meetings of the shareholders? 18. What is MD short for?17.

A.The Chairman of the Board.

B.The Managing Director.

C.The General Manager.

D.The Executive Director.

听力原文:W: Welcome to our programme, Mr Smith. M: Thank you. W: Mr Smith, how long have
you been a police officer? M: Ive been a police officer for thirty years. W: Thirty years. And youve had different types of assignments on the police force, I guess. M: Yeah, Ive done everything from patrol to undercover work to detective work, and now Im supervising investigations. W: Mr Smith, I think most people would say that being a police officer is a very stressful job. Would you agree? M: Yes, its definitely a stressful job. But it depends on your assignment. W: So, whats probably the most stressful job you can have? M: Id say patrol is the most stressful assignment. W: Thats interesting! In what way? M: Well, I guess the biggest part of the stress is the fear factor, the fear of the unknown. W: What do you mean, Mr Smith? M: Well, in patrol work, you dont know from moment to moment who you are talking to or what their reaction is going to be to justify your presence. Lets say, for example, a patrol officer stops someone for a traffic violation. It seems as though that would be a very low-stress situation. W: Yes, it is a very low-stress situation. M: But the truth is, there are more police officers injured during a routine stop. W: Really? M: Really! Thats why all police officers are taught from the very beginning to be aware of their surroundings: people back over policemen, people shoot policemen, people jump out at policemen — different kinds of things. So thats probably the most stressful time. W: I see. Lets take a break and then well move on to our next topic. M: All right. Questions 9 to 12 are based on the conversation you have just heard. 9. Whats the relationship between the two speakers? 10. What do we know about Mr Smith from the conversation? 11. What assignment does Mr Smith believe is the most stressful? 12. Why are all police officers taught to be aware of their surroundings from the very beginning?10.

A.He is a good supervisor.

B.He is an experienced police officer.
